Robbie Williams’s cheese and bacon oatcakes cost taxpayers £100

News

The cheese and bacon oatcakes served up at the special request of Potteries pop superstar Robbie Williams cost taxpayers £100, it has been revealed.

Another £159 was spent on flowers and ceremonial scrolls when the singer received his Freedom of the City honour in July, according to information obtained by a Freedom of Information request.

Robbie received the civic award in a special ceremony at the Lord Mayor’s parlour, in the presence of his wife Ayda and daughter Teddy, before heading off to his old stomping ground of Tunstall Park for a quick picnic.

Following a Sentinel campaign, a series of events took place in Robbie’s home city earlier to mark his 40th birthday.
