Williams to get branded iPhone racing game

Internet & technology

Mobile games firm Artificial Life has announced a deal to make an official Robbie Williams iPhone game, due for release later this year. The as-yet unnamed game will tie in with Williams’ new Reality Killed The Video Star album, and will thus include music and artwork from the album within the game. It’s not a music game along the lines of the Lady GaGa Revenge and Coldplay Revenge titles made by US firm Tapulous, though. Instead, Artificial Life’s Robbie game will be a 3D rally racing title. That presumably means the publisher will be using its existing racing engine – the one used for its two iPhone games for BMW – with Williams’ music slapped on top. Cynics (us included) might question just how valuable this reskinning approach is for a brand or pop star – just as we wondered about yesterday’s launch of Real Madrid Pinball for iPhone.

However, if the game is great, and captures the same kind of success as Fishlabs’ free 3D racing game for Volkswagen earlier this year, it could do its bit to make Robbie’s comeback a success. (source: mobile-ent.biz)
