British pop star Robbie Williams has quit record label EMI after 15 years and signed a lucrative new deal to relaunch his solo career. The Angels singer has been on EMI’s talent roster since quitting Take That and launching himself as a solo artist back in 2006, but he has now announced he will be joining Universal Music to make his comeback with a new album next year (12).
A statement from Williams, who rejoined Take That last year (10) for an album and a tour, reads, “I’m really thrilled to be joining the Universal family at what I think is the most exciting time in my career.”

Universal Music Group Ceo Lucian Grainge, adds, “What a thrill this announcement is. To be working with Robbie and his team, and to have the opportunity to support this incredible stage of his career, makes life so exciting.”
Williams is working on his ninth studio album with his Take That co-star Gary Barlow and the record is set for release on the Universal label in 2012.
