Robbie in X Factor

News, TV and Radio

English singer songwriter Robbie Williams is set to mentor the finalists in this years X Factor.

Williams, 35, will also be performing songs from his long-awaited album Reality Killed The Video Star, when the ITV show reaches the live stages of the contest in October. Show supremo Simon Cowell, 49, has also decided to theme one of the weeks as Robbie Williams Hits Week, and contestants will have to perform the stars best songs, including Angels, Shes The One and Let Me Entertain You.

Williams will meet the acts during rehearsals, and give them tips on their performances as they prepare for the big Saturday night show. This is a massive coup to get Robbie. Weve had some great acts in the past like Westlife, Beyonc and Britney come on the show, the Daily Star quoted a senior insider as saying. But Robbie will be a big ratings puller for us this year, the insider said.

  • If I might leave a comment that Mr Williams might access. I wrote to him about his songwriting some time ago, in grief for Anna Nicole Smith when he went into rehab. I suggested a song about bereavement, thinking that he could touch people’s hearts and souls in a useful way. Now he has the chance, as the natural choice to perform at O2, to help heal the wound of Michael Jackson’s passing. I have faith in the young man’s abilities to express what a lot of ordinary people, who might not be able to express themselves in lyrics, might feel. Welcome home. I hope the recruitment for the catering has improved since Knebworth. All best wishes.
